Bio

Maheen Mahmood is a PhD student at Arizona State University, working with Dr. Bruce Rittmann at the Biodesign Swette Center for Environmental Biotechnology. This research focuses on characterizing phosphate speciation during the anaerobic digestion of high-strength organic waste streams and on recovering phosphorus from anaerobic digestate. Both aspects contribute to scalable nutrient-recovery approaches.
