Bio

Md Shakil Uddin is a PhD student in the Department of Soil, Water, and Ecosystem Sciences at the University of Florida. He completed his BSc and MS from Bangladesh Agricultural University, where he developed a strong interest in sustainable nutrient management. His work as a Research Scholar at STEPS focuses on advancing the current understanding of phosphorus solubilization using complementary chemical and biological strategies to improve phosphorus use efficiency. Through his research, Shakil contributes to STEPS’ 25‑in‑25 vision of reducing dependence on mined phosphate fertilizers and phosphorus losses to the environment by 25% within 25 years. He collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to generate actionable knowledge that supports more circular, low‑loss fertilization practices and informs grower decision‑making aimed at protecting downstream water quality while sustaining crop productivity.
