Marcelo Ardón is an ecosystem ecologist and biogeochemist interested in the movement of carbon, phosphorus, and nitrogen in wetlands and streams. His recent research has focused on long-term patterns in tropical stream biogeochemistry, greenhouse gas emissions from wetlands and ponds, fertilizer legacies in coastal areas, saltwater intrusion, and consequences of sea level rise for coastal wetlands. Dr. Ardon has studied phosphorus legacies in restored wetlands experiencing saltwater intrusion in the coast of North Carolina. Dr. Ardon maintains various collaborations with conservation NGOs, government scientists, and other academic institutions.
