Maheen Mahmood
Bio
Maheen Mahmood is a PhD student in the department of Civil, Environmental and Sustainable Engineering at Arizona State University. She comes from Pakistan where she has received her undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering. She earned her master’s degree from Kansas State University in Environmental Engineering where she was working on understanding the role of microbial diversity in controlling greenhouse gas emissions from conserved forages. Her primary interests focus on environmental biotechnology and microbial ecology. She is determined to play her part to preserve the environment and promote sustainability. Currently, she is working under theme 2.2 in STEPS with Dr. Bruce Rittmann on characterizing phosphorus after the anaerobic treatment of high strength organic waste streams.
