Anisa Guedira
Bio
Anisa Guedira obtained her B.S. in Environmental Science with a minor in Biology in 2022 from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. During her time at UNC, she focused on environmental and human health, working one summer with Dr. Jane Hoppin’s group on negative health impacts as a result of PFAS exposure. She started her PhD in Biochemistry in Fall 2023 with Amy Grunden on Theme 2. Her research focuses on generating an “always-on” strain of bacteria so polyphosphate can be taken up all the time and extracted for use, keeping in line with the Next-Generation Biological Phosphorus Removal: Engineered Hyperaccumulators and Polyphosphate Recovery project.
