Amber Meeks
Bio
Amber Meeks is a doctoral candidate in Learning and Teaching in STEM, with a focus on Science Education. Her research interests include conducting science education research in the areas of Earth and environmental science, interdisciplinary research (science, education, educational psychology), and life science education. Amber’s dissertation research focuses on how middle school students use 2-D maps or a 3-D Tangible Landscape to test phosphate runoff remediation strategies. With advisor, Dr. Gail Jones, and the Friday Institute, Amber worked on projects such as k-12 students’ knowledge of viruses and vaccines, various research with climate change education teaching and learning, and work for her dissertation. Prior to coming to NC State, she received her M.A.Ed from East Carolina University in Science Education. Amber has taught 3rd-grade science and math for 2 years and has experience supervising secondary science teachers.
