Julianna Nieuwsma

Julianna Nieuwsma is a Ph.D. student in the College of Education’s Learning and Teaching in STEM program at NC State. Her program area of study is science education. Her research with Dr. Gail Jones focuses on graduate students’ experiences in convergence science and phosphorus sustainability education. In addition to her steps research, Julianna is also an Assistant Editor for the International Journal of Science Education. Other research Julianna assists with includes a Research Experience for Teachers (RET) program that engages middle and high school teachers with nanotechnology, impostor phenomena in STEM graduate students, and the incorporation of awe into science teaching. She has a Master’s degree in Zoology from NC State University and a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Zoology with minors in Genetics and Environmental Science from NC State University.
