Gayani Pathiraja is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar in the Obare group at the Joint School of Nanoscience and Nanoengineering (JSNN). Her current research focuses on various organophosphorus compounds removal techniques in wastewater for the phosphorus sustainability. Gayani received her Ph.D. in Nanoscience from University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 2021 and she investigated the crystal growth mechanism and kinetics of ultrathin copper hydroxide/oxide nanowire self-assembly in her study. Prior to that, she earned her master’s degree in electrochemistry/Environmental Engineering from University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, and bachelor’s degree in Materials Science and Technology from Uva Wellassa University, Sri Lanka.
